The Missions Council is tasked with promoting and encouraging the members of LaFayette to be involved in all aspects of Missions. They plan and promote opportunities for “hands-on” missions for the church as a whole. But, they are also encouraging groups, families, and individuals to discover how their gifts, abilities, and passions might be used to support other wonderful ministries in our community and beyond.
Regular opportunities include involvement in our partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of SE North Carolina. On the second Saturday of each month we serve as a distribution point for produce and perishables that are provided to us by Second Harvest. Anyone in the community can come and receive food items that we hope will help to fill the gap for their families. Our church members serve as hosts for this wonderful ministry.
Financial Support- Our church has long been committed to supporting missions through our regular budget and through special offerings. Ten percent of our General Fund Budget is designated to missions and is divided among a variety of missions that include supporting work that takes place locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. As Baptists we cooperate with other Baptist churches to support missionaries and their work around the globe. Our people have also supported members of the body who have answered the call to mission service as individuals and as teams.
